He has twice been honored as a National Book Award finalist, and garnered both a Newbery Honor (A Long Way From Chicago) and a Newbery Medal (A Year Down Yonder). His beloved and award-winning novels have inspired generations of readers and writers alike.

The Power of Words

Few things on this planet have the power to change the direction of history the way words do. I count WORDS as the number one influencer of humans, whether written or spoken.

Food for thought:

“Boys flying kites reel in their white-winged birds.
You can’t do that when you’re flying words.
Words, unsaid, sometimes fall back dead,
But even God can’t stop them once they’re said.”

I’m not sure who the author of this gem is, but believe his name was William Parker.
